Dr. Self attended the University of Central Arkansas, earning a degree in Finance in 1991. He was awarded his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1998. In June of 1996, he managed to convince Deana Coleman to become his bride, one of his greatest accomplishments.

In September of 1999, Dr. Self and his wife made Dyersburg, TN their new home, after they purchased the former practice of Dr. William F. Pierce. Since that time, Dr. Self has been very active in organized dentistry, their church and the community. He is particularly proud of his work as a member of the Dyersburg City School Board of Directors where he has served since 2009, and as an Assistant Scout Master with Troop 87 since 2010. Dr. Self and Deana have 4 boys and can’t seem to keep enough food in the house. Ever. Their family has been members of Dyersburg First United Methodist Church since 1999, and also attends the First Assembly of Ole Miss whenever possible.
